Explore the Yoga of Being
Explore the “yoga of being” in an immersive weekend format with Kelly Villarreal. Now more than ever our bodies and minds are deeply in need of practices that invite us to slow down and turn inward. Restorative yoga is an evidence-based practice that uses props to support the body and cultivate space for an active relaxation practice that helps to regulate the nervous system and unwind the effects of chronic stress. Learn the essential skill of praciting deep rest and creating calm in the body for both yourself and your students.
Topics will include:
Restorative yoga philosophy, the nervous system, trauma-informed considerations
Restorative poses, variations, and propping
How to sequence and set up a restorative class
The art of holding space for your students
This training is open to teachers and students who wish to deepen their practice. This offering is also relevant for adjacent modalities, therapists, or somatic practitioners interested in gaining additional tools to support their clients.
This course is eligible for 20 hours of continuing education through Yoga Alliance.

A Note from Kelly
I have been a dedicated student of yoga for nearly 20 years. Initially, the impact of intense physical practices like Bikram and Baptiste Power Yoga drove me to become a teacher. It was only after 60 or 90 minutes of intense physical practice like this that I found my anxious mind and body could truly settle during Savasana.
After receiving my initial 200-hour certification, I enrolled in a restorative yoga training without much idea what it was really about and that experience was nothing short of life-changing. It was the first time I was able to find my way to that deeply regulated state without the intensity of physically challenging asana practices. It was a deep reminder of how the many paths of yoga are ultimately pointing us to the same place. In the time since I have undertaken further training with Judith Hanson Lasaster and am a certified Relax and Renew® Teacher, with additional explorations in trauma informed teaching and yin yoga.
